We'd have to shame those who fight without honor in order to keep the peace, and the person who is challenged will have the right to choose the weapons used. Otherwise, the implementation of this idea would change EVERYTHING

I know its a joke, but guns are not there for civvies to shoot at eachother, they're there for them to protect themselves from the government or any other opposing force.

Now, what uneducated people do to get shot is no one's problem, and shooting criminals should be enforced IMO.

All the people who say knives etc are just as deadly as guns, should be forced to duel a gunman while armed only with a knife.

Do I have a knife in hand while he has his holstered? Am I within 22 feet of him? And are we of roughly the same skill level of competency? Because if so, I'll take those odds.

Actually, a knife wound is a lot more debilitating than a bullet wound, in certain cases. Depends on the knife and bullet. For example, a .22 round has a very limited effective range-- over, say, thirty yards or so, and they are fairly ineffective. They've been known to bounce off of skulls without penetration.

Are you forgetting bullets roll once they penetrate? I don't know how much a .22 would roll at point blank but I would imagine it would be considerable and enough to stop someone in their tracks considering what this guy said "I have a smith & wesson mp15-22 which is a .22lr and i shot a cooking pan from about 100 yards away and it penetrated no problem".

Uhh, .22 can kill up to 400 yards, and shotgun slugs have bounced off skulls before, either way the gun has more utility, you can't stab someone from 10 yards away, whilst a proficient gunman could attack you from 700 yards to point blank range.

You're kidding, right? I .22 pistol has almost ZERO accuracy after only fifty yards. Show me any numbers backing up that statement. And I've never heard of a shotgun slug bouncing off of a skull before. Buckshot, at a distance, maybe. Also, I entered a very specific scenario-- didn't ask for anything else.

You said a .22 round, you never specified if it was coming from a rifle or a pistol. And again for a knife to be anywhere near effective you need the element of surprise and close to point range distance and there's still nothing stopping the opponent from drawing his gun during the time you attack him.

Actually, if the skill level of the two combatants is relatively equal, from a standing and still position, a man with a drawn knife can close the distance between him and a man with a holstered gun and get there before a shot can be fired. Using one hand to bat away the gun hand and the other to stab/slice his arm/torso is pretty standard tactics. Now, you show me the specs on any rifle that can fire a .22 round over 400 yards effectively, and I will concede the point. But you know full well that I was discussing pistols, not rifles.

With every single advantage it's still not even close to 70% chance of winning, and depending on the holster/wear the holster is located you can draw in a fraction of a second, again the knife may be able to get the job done, just under a particular set of near perfect circumstances.

Well gun control already exists, and this movement is wanting to make it stricter. Over 65% of people who commit crimes with guns get them from streets or from friends. Like 8% of people actually got them from gun stores.

Not so many people do carry guns out in the streets other than criminals who don't obey the law, or people who do obey the law and have licenses to carry. The reason why this movement is causing such a fuss is because it's going against the second amendment, and again, that's to protect themselves from government. If the government doesn't trust us, how can we trust the government? Also, the old saying is "cops show up after the crime has been committed, it is up to you to prevent the crime from happening"

well from what I've heard people in australia are fed up with their gun ban, and people in the UK are suffering from more knife related crimes than the US. People will have their way if they really wanted to commit a crime, a gun is their first choice, but they will have a way. Plus, it's fun to shoot.

trying to find the article i recently read about how when florida lifted it's strict gun laws, crimes plummeted, but for now think of these things.
1. The connecticut shooting happened in a gun free zone. not only was the shooter not allowed to purchase a firearm with current gun control laws in effect, but he took the guns from his mom, so it was his mom's irresponsibility that allowed him to get his firearms.
2. The movie theater shooting took place in the only movie theater in the area that didn't allow people to carry concealed weapons, even though there were movie theaters closer to the dudes house.
3. the clackamas town mall shooting was stopped because someone with a concealed weapon pulled a gun on the shooter, and then the original shooter committed suicide.

I've always wondered, why the **** do people still live in Gotham? I mean, there's CONSTANT shenanigans going on, wouldn't any logical person get the **** out?

Maybe rent is really cheap.

Gotham City is the most biggest city in that world. It´s like New York City (I don't know if NY is the biggest city in the world, but I mean that Gotham is like NY in it's place in the world. Both have a huge influence in the world.)

Sure, people move, but could you imagine everyone in NY moving away?

Besides, in the comic book world, every big city has it's super willians and it's heroes to stop them. That's just the comic book world.

And yeah, they've got Batman watching over them, so they're cool.
