And that's not the point, i just don't get why the biggest thing you can do on this website is something that is only achieved by chance (and even a great chance). See this guy rolled twice (looking at his recent comments) meaning the real chance is ~18%, and he could, if he wanted, have rolled until he got the result he wanted. TLDR: the majority of people on funnyjunk are dumb as fuck, or know nothing about statistics.

Yes, quite possibly one of the most anticipated games of the last decade apparently. Half Life was ok, but doesn't deserve most of the hype.

It was a perfectly good game, I enjoyed it, but it didn't impress me personally as a hallmark game. Let the internet get mad, if they give me red thumbs and don't bother to justify their opinion, then I win. If they love the game and can't explain why...

At the time that the original Half-Life came out, no other game could compete with it. It was a new concept, looked fascinating and left all of our young nubile minds and imaginations with hope that gaming could be better than what we had grown accustomed to. The physics engine was no doubt ahead of it's time, the story was immersive even with a silent protagonist. Half-Life has paved the way for many great games and I will wait patiently for Gordon Freeman to return and take us all on another adventure. I remember the joys that came with it, Counter Strike and TFC...nobody cared about hats, clans were being formed and war was waged for so many hours that years passed. Years with anticipation that has been daunting at times, waiting patiently for our hero to return. He is our hero, our savior...and we will wait, ever vigilant, for more of his epic of his story to unfold.

Regardless, one thumb for a very good explanation as to why it was a good game to you.

Now THAT is an explanation. But it wasn't that way for me personally. For me it was a very good shooter, but somehow fell short. I don't know where, everything was perfect. But it just didn't feel finished, tight. It didn't have the panache of games like Doom, Metal Gear, Starcraft or RE2. Admittedly different genres, but the over all feeling they gave me left a greater impression then Half Life did.

Feels, dude... Feels! Playing Half-Life and Opposing Force and also counter strike when it was still a beta version and froze so many times... damn dude! THOSE were the days.
And when Half-Life 2 was announced I almost shat my pants. But the story wasn't as good and complete as the first one, in my opinion.
