>all these people saying volunteering will beef up your resume

Not unless you volunteer somewhere that is very related to the field you want to go into. And those are called internships, and good ones are just as hard to get as jobs. You can't just go volunteer at the soup kitchen and expect that to actually help you with anything. I have 2+ years experience in fast food and I can't get a job at McDonalds.

Honestly, work crap jobs until you are 22+, get a job as a bouncer, and then slowly work your way up security.

Honestly, go work at McDonalds, walmart, etc. if you can't get a job like that, you seriously need to go volunteer or do something to beef up your resume.
There is no reason that you can't go and mow lawns, shovel driveways, etc to beef up your resume and make yourself look better.

Seriously, I'm a senior in High School going off to college next fall. I've been looking for a job the past 2 years, had two opportunities lost because of being in the marching band. I now have not been able to find a job despite the many applications I've sent in, not even a chance for an interview. I have 2 years of leadership in the band, am in the National Honor Society, have all A's including my AP classes and am able to lift heavy objects.

Yet those who do nothing but party and are in nothing but ******* accelerated classes, barely getting by at that, have jobs. I really don't understand what kind of qualifications they want anymore.

Maybe you're really bad at interviews? I mean minimum wage jobs hinge on the guy liking your personality not your qualifications because its a minimum wage job you don't need qualifications.

I applied for hundreds of jobs and didn't hear back from any... that's why I've decided to join the navy instead and get away from this **** hole :p

Pro tip: Always apply for a job in person. Also, actually talk and have a conversation with the manager of the store when you apply. It leaves bigger impression on them and it adds that extra something to your resume that most people don't have.
