A bionic eye?
Stem cells from a 3D printer?
All of this cool **** that pushes innovation and all we get in the news is horse meat in ready meals

Because I can't afford a bionic eye nor 3D printer.
I can buy ready meals.

Relax, an innocent jibe on my part :) and no offence meant. I just think science seems a lot busier, and with more....practical things.

On a side note: I do kind'a have to say that I think you can compare them pretty well since one seeks to prove things with empirical evidence and one seeks to prove things using mostly priori reasoning and faith--they're like complete opposites so they actually make a really good comparison.

Well, the Pope said he is going to resign and the UK passed the equal marriage (which is a big thing for the religions in the UK that oppose it). That's just two things off the top of my head, that are only 1 religion and aren't related to scholarship. If you looked into various theological journals you'd find things are being proposed all the time.
tl;dr- stuffs going on if you look for it
User avatar #208 to #29 - sammyjankiis (02/11/2013) [-]
Britain passed gay marriage? Good for them!!
#348 to #208 - benjah ONLINE (02/12/2013) [-]
Equal marriage. Calling it gay marriage marginalises lesbians and transgendered people, while also ignoring heterosexual marriage.
#38 to #29 - tendividedbysix ONLINE (02/11/2013) [-]
Well I guess it hasn't been a completely empty week for religion then haha and I do like Theology...but am I wrong in thinking science just has so much more interesting stuff going on right now? I read New Scientist magazine sometimes and have my mind blown every page.

"A study predicted there could be billions of earth like planets in our astronomical backyard"
Yes, in 1960. How is that new? Did we get some new data that confirms this? We've know for a decade now that Mars used to have an atmosphere and one of jupiters moons is next to habitable.
I hate this kind of uninformative ******** . "A study predicts", is it possible to be more inaccurate. Asking people if they think there's life outside our solar system is a study. But it says nothing about if there is or not.
#62 to #28 - osirusrising (02/11/2013) [-]
don't be such a cunt it says "in our astronomical backyard" yes we've known since the 60's that there are Earth like planets out there but we've been finding them closer and ones that are better and better to live on. That's the news it's talking about, so in a sense it's not bs but vary good news.
