Y'know, I REALLY can't understand this. I know it started in some movie, but as shooting goes, holding your gun sideways is on its own divine plateu of retarded. Also, in gore gifs and the like that I've seen where "gangstahs" shoot somebody they PUNCH with the damn gun while shooting, bringing it to a sublime level of potato.

You always gotta airpunch the bullet out of the barrel for the increased coolness factor.
Seriously though, I think they do it to be less precise so if they DO hit somebody they can tell themselves that it was accidential.
