Police requirements are not as high as you are led to believe.

Their firearms requirements are just as low, yet they are allowed to have higher power weapons that citizens?!

Most citizens get more range time and training than they do with weapons. Physical fitness requirements are many times only require being able to lift something or drag it, not a real measure of fitness.

allowing guns isn't to do with how skilled you are with them, it's about who or what you are shooting

Skill does have quite a bit to do with it.

Alot of police here in the USA pray and spray, resulting in hitting civilians. A direct result from lack of use of their weapons and poor training.

Civilians are held to a higher standard and accountable for all rounds fired to a higher degree, so they practice and actually aim better.

If a civilian misses and accidentally hits someone it's viewed as highly negligent by the law and the media. However if an officer does it, they view it as an unfortunate occurrence.

Further the average officer might only get 4 hours of range time for qualifying, and the tests themselves again are not very applicable to the real world.

The better police departments actually encourage additional training and have fitness and endurance requirements that are measurable.

In a gun fight you do not just stand in place and shoot, you fire and move to cover ASAP.

If you are hunting an animal of course you can sit and wait for it, but you don't hunt humans... you defend yourself from them. That is unless you are a mentally deranged person, or a serial killer.
