IF humans one day become extinct from a catastrophic
collision, there would be no greater tragedy in the history of life
in the universe. Not because we lacked the brain power to
protect ourselves but because we lacked the foresight. The
dominant species that replaces us in postapocalyptic Earthiest
might wonder, as they gaze upon our mounted skeletons in their
natural history museums, why large headed Homo sapiens fared
no better than the proverb/ ally dinosaurs."

Cause we can't stop shit from crashing into the Earth at millions of miles per hour, thereby causing large amounts of debris to block out the sun, thereby killing most plant material and much of the food chain dependent upon said plants?

If a huge asteroid came our way, we could send Bruce Willis and some oil drillers in space with nothing but a month of NASA training and a huge Phillips head screwdriver and....hope for the best!

This is pne thing i have thought about a lot, if some aliens were to ever discover the ruins of our civilization. Our great technical wonders still dead where we left it and all the bizarre works in the name of pleasure and art to be found.
What sense could it have made to beings so more advanced than us to find our most exotic works and bring it int their wast inter spacial knowledge.

oh come on.. dinosaurs have been on earth 165 million years. Humanity is a young race but we are already in space. If we are to be extinct, it would probably be lack of technology or materials to build it. Saying humans won't work together for the greater good is stupid.

I love Neil deGrasse Tyson, but that line is just fucking stupid and arrogant.

And why should an apparently wise person and Internet's honey-bunny say something about human extinction being a "great tragedy" or "greatest tragedy" in the universe?
