agreed. except for the priceless thing. Depending on the sample, rarity, and condition of the bone, it could go for a relatively affordable price at auction, say, if a museum was forced to foreclose or it was for some benefit, or maybe someone found it on private property.

As for the meteor I've got no fucking idea. I know the best place to find meteors is Antarctica because of the relatively thin atmosphere and uniform topography, but i cant really think of a way that someone would find one to put in a ring. seems like it'd be easier just to get metal that has a similar metallic grain structure to a meteorite, but that would be almost equally superfluous.

You're probably right, I may have used the word "priceless" prematurely. Let me rephrase-- they're priceless until they've been studied. But these samples have almost definitely already been studied, so I guess it's not that big of a deal.

meteorites ofcourse are but those have a difrent thing and that is that once you've studied a perticular meteorite it stops giving information

You have to take into account that some dinosaurs have tons and tons of samples, to the point where we have plenty to learn from, and plenty for whatever. As for meteorites, there's plenty of meteorites out there that are not very spectacular, just from outside. Also, you have to think about how small an amount is used to make these rings. Overall, they don't have much of an effect on our stock of the two resources.

The dinosaur bones part is true, but I maintain that every meteorite has potential value until it has been studied and recorded for chemical composition. But you're right, that probably already happened. Guess I'm just in a bitchy mood today. There's a storm where I live, and that always puts me on edge.

For meteors, many of them are just composed of elements found on earth. They often have little to no true value, other than the fact that they came from space. The biggest benefit from studying them is to check for unique elements and any signs of life or the possibility of it. Once a meteorite is checked for these, it could pretty easily be used for rings. For example, you may notice that the cost of this ring is only about 800 dollars. If it was hard to obtain the resources it would cost a hell of a lot more.

That's what I'm saying. Every meteorite should be checked for amino acids, proteins, or other signs of life or pre-life. It's not really about the elements themselves. Yes, the biggest and only real benefit is checking them for life-- my point is that it's a HUGE benefit. But chances are, it already happened, so it's a moot point.
