I know this is a joke but I fucking hate it when old people do this. "Their day" was nowhere near as great as they seem to remember it.

Though the joke is funny, it just reminds me of my dad because he doesn't believe people are "insane" or that mental issue are real because, "back in his day" it was just being sad or a spaz. And how nowadays, some people still don't believe most forms of mental illness are real.

Granted, I hate people who scream "OCD!" or "ADHD!" when they don't have it but still. . .

I was considered ADHD for a while. Since then i started talking to an actual Psychiatrist and Psychologist. Turns out it's PTSD with depression! Woo!

Honestly it's done me a world of good just figuring things out, no medications or anything!

i recently got diagnosed as "adhd". all i told my doctor was i have a hard time concentrating and staying awake in school, and i frequently get up and leave the class for a minute cuz i cant stand sitting for long periods of time. not abnormal in the least! but boom baby take these pills!! granted, they are awesome, the whole everyone has a mental disorder these days is getting out of control.

eh. sort of like people with ADD. I have been taking Concerta for my ADD since like 1st grade I think. It helped alot but I didnt notice it....my teachers and my friends did. I have also been in counseling for it since 5th grade. I did not really start to become aware of it's actual effects until like junior year of high school. I would start to think of some of the things that I would typically do off of my pill and then on my pill and that's when it clicked in my head. When I was on my day wear I forgot my pill I would think alright just take it easy and pay attention. I'd start to day dream or get off task and I would notice and click back to what's at hand and it was basically like I was on my pill. I still take my pill just for good measure though being a freshmen in college.

Moral of the story is all this shit on ADD is soooo blown out of proportion. Sure, when the person is a child they won't give 2 shits or try to control it so medication is the only other solution. When you get to a certain age you need to take responsibility and get off of the dependency of the meds. It's not as serious as everyone makes it. You can control it on your own....you just have to give a fuck and want to make a change.

There wasn't as many "behavioral disorders" because kids would get smacked if they were bad. Nowadays kids run rouge around the city without an adult to tell them to not be an asswipe.
