In like the First episode of Bleach Rukia says that Ichigo's Zanpakuto (Sword) is the biggest she has ever seen anybody use.

One of the theories as to why he's so much stronger than other humans that actually interest me is that if you pay close attention, you'll notice he has pointier teeth and ears than normal humans, and his wounds seem to heal a LOT quicker than most people's. The fact that he survived for what appears to be a couple days after having been born from a dead woman's womb also hints at a possibly non-human (or at least partly) parent.

Its just a theory developed by fans though, but I find it highly interesting. That said, it would explain his seemingly inhuman strength and fortitude.
