Hey... psst... macfags

I built a computer for a single grand.

you buy a ****** laptop for 2 grand that cant even run MINECRAFT on full graphics

So whether you can actually have two hard drives or not is regardless, you will never know the joys of building your own from scratch.

2 grand...?
I'm pretty sure any mac bought for 2 grand would do the job fine..
Macs deliver a faster experience because of the genious programming and coding. Instead of receiving a bunch of useless packages that are spread everywhere to open a file there are other ways to store information.

Gaming is NOT for macs. Do you even realize why people buy watches? They're not only buying the opportunity to see what time it is, they're buying the brand, the style. A mac is slick, thin, easy and you know that person has money almost instantly.

There are pros and cons to both systems, and if you want to have a legitimate argument have the decency to know something about both sides.
#174 to #169 - snakefire (02/06/2013) [-]
All that second line says to me is that mac owners are arrogant, materialistic, and spend money just because they can.

And I've used macs, they are no faster than PCs
#191 to #174 - lastsamurai (02/06/2013) [-]
You would spend money if you could. Stop lying.
You put up with one sentence that interested you, which was just an example.. ******* ..

Macs are faster. I am comparing it with a laptop that has windows.
A self-built desktop vs a mac is something else..

Linux is even faster though.. I didn't even realize how ingenious it was before my brother showed it to me. He has been programming for a long time now and knows pretty much everything there is to know. I think...

So, Linux wins.
User avatar #225 to #191 - mcfunkdaddy (02/06/2013) [-]
you can get laptop that look more styish that macs. macs are not faster. linux only has the ability to be faster when used with lower resources. it comes to the point when the hardware is good enough that there is essentialy no difference.
User avatar #198 to #191 - snakefire (02/06/2013) [-]
No doubt linux wins, I just game a lot so windows is my choice.

And no, I don't waste my money on things "because I can afford it"
#141 to #59 - hylebus (02/06/2013) [-]
Because everyone has computers purely for gaming.
User avatar #65 to #59 - mondominiman (02/06/2013) [-]
You're comparing a desktop to a laptop, laptops tend not to be as powerful as desktops. Besides when you play minecraft the world is constantly rendering around you so it's not the graphics that cause the slow down. Plus MAC is just a brand you can still install OS X on a custom built computer.. Just because you install Windows on a PC makes it a microsoft PC? What about the people who run Ubuntu.
User avatar #70 to #65 - snakefire (02/06/2013) [-]
I'm not talking about osx I'm talking about mac computers.
User avatar #73 to #70 - mondominiman (02/06/2013) [-]
Still your comparing a factory built vs custom built both require an operating system.
User avatar #76 to #73 - snakefire (02/06/2013) [-]
The operating system is irrelevant, you can build a PC, you cannon build a mac.

That was my point.
User avatar #79 to #76 - mondominiman (02/06/2013) [-]
Fine what differs a Mac from a PC and im not talking about the things it runs.
User avatar #80 to #79 - snakefire (02/06/2013) [-]
Having to pay to have a mac fixed by "professionals" when PCs can be repaired by yourself.
User avatar #83 to #80 - mondominiman (02/06/2013) [-]
You can still replace parts on a MAC, although it might be difficult to find parts and it will void your warranty because Apple is like that. When you take it to "geniuses" they take it in the back and fix it the same they would fix a PC they just have the parts in stock. Plus not everyone knows how to fix their own PC even if it was custom built. Their screen could display nothing and they'll think the monitors broken so they'll shell out $100-200 for a new monitor only for it to be a faulty RAM stick the costs no more than $10. Don't be spewing out information about computers that you hear on funnyjunk because more often than not it's wrong.
User avatar #96 to #83 - IAmManbearpig ONLINE (02/06/2013) [-]
ram not costing more than $10? I think you need to upgrade, brah.
User avatar #101 to #96 - mondominiman (02/06/2013) [-]
I just looked on newegg where the majority was around the $10 mark. I was only talking about a stick as well
User avatar #107 to #101 - IAmManbearpig ONLINE (02/06/2013) [-]
lowest priced on newegg is $12.99 which is 256mb DDR, i.e., useless ****
#123 to #107 - mondominiman (02/06/2013) [-]
Not sure were you looked? I just typed in RAM and did the narrow search for $0-$10.
User avatar #126 to #123 - IAmManbearpig ONLINE (02/06/2013) [-]
that's laptop RAM, not desktop.
User avatar #132 to #126 - mondominiman (02/06/2013) [-]
$10 dollars seemed a bit low. I didn't even buy RAM when i built mine i just took it out of an old PC that had 8 GBs of DDR3 RAM running at 1333MHz so that $10 was just a guess.

User avatar #136 to #132 - IAmManbearpig ONLINE (02/06/2013) [-]
couldn't have been too old if it was 1333 DDR3... maybe a year or two... anyway, that's a pretty damn good, especially for free.
User avatar #155 to #136 - mondominiman (02/06/2013) [-]
Yeah, anyways about this whole argument i was just trying to derail a guy from the entire Macs are **** thing funnyjunk believes in. As an IT guy I've had to work on both PCs and Macs and you troubleshoot both almost the same way

User avatar #66 to #64 - snakefire (02/06/2013) [-]
I'm saying the mac cant even run minecraft

thats pathetic
User avatar #69 to #66 - neokun ONLINE (02/06/2013) [-]
You realize that most laptops cannot play minecraft, not just macs.
User avatar #71 to #69 - snakefire (02/06/2013) [-]
I've never seen a newer PC laptop that cant run minecraft perfectly unless it was some little piece of **** the size of paris hiltons purse
User avatar #72 to #71 - neokun ONLINE (02/06/2013) [-]
Okay, you seem to have seen some new laptops in your time. Name me 5 laptops that run minecraft (not gaming ones).
#90 to #72 - DealZ (02/06/2013) [-]
HP Pavillion dv6, runs minecraft perfectly, and WoW with many settings at max. Thats 3 so far
User avatar #74 to #72 - bernardolima (02/06/2013) [-]
My Dell Inspiron 14R cost me 400$ and can run minecraft with 128x128 photorealistic mod at 60 fps.
User avatar #77 to #74 - neokun ONLINE (02/06/2013) [-]
Great. Thats one.

Honestly, working in building computers, doing repairs, and being a java game dev, i can tell you that there is a big list of laptops that aren't gaming oriented that run it really well. Granted I run a higher end laptop(i7 3.2ghz, 6Gb ram, GT640M 2GB), i have to test bits of code on lower ones to get an idea of what kind of computer the user of the program would need.
Tl;dr There are a lot of laptops that run minecraft well out there, most of those are not macs
#63 to #59 - gggeee ONLINE (02/06/2013) [-]
Minecraft is a poorly optimized game, that, on any low tier system will run like ****
User avatar #68 to #63 - snakefire (02/06/2013) [-]
I have a windows vista prebuilt from 2007 that runs it on high, perfectly fine
User avatar #94 to #68 - gggeee ONLINE (02/06/2013) [-]
I don't think you realize the **** tier spaghetti coding minecraft used when Notch first made it, my old laptop could hardly run it with optifine pulling the lowest graphics

I'm not defending mac, no, just saying minecraft is a poor choice to "decide" on what computer to use
#104 to #94 - vincernio (02/06/2013) [-]
It really is, It was coded very poorly, it's better now, but still no where near perfect.
User avatar #121 to #104 - gggeee ONLINE (02/06/2013) [-]
Thank god for Jeb trying to fix it
#125 to #121 - vincernio (02/06/2013) [-]
Yeah, even then i think the main development is gonna come to a halt soonish, so it will be up to the community to fix it. On that note I know this because I'm the owner of a Indie Dev team working on a game in java, I own it, but I'm not the head coder, and honestly if i were head coder i'd probably go all notch on it haha.
