You honestly think this is the first time. This dude used religion to get morons to suck his dick. Countless others use religion to get morons to kill each other.

do you honestly think this is the one isolated case of religion being bad? Do you have any clue how much conflict stems from it? Let's just ignore the fact that people were ******* killed for not following the church blindly, religion is never wrong. Let's ignore that pretty much every attempt humans made at progress by overthrowing a horrible ruler, making discoveries, research, etc. are all protested heavily by religion. Religion is a horrible thing and there is a lot more than just this that supports that idea

im saying that just because someone uses religion to trick people, it doesn't mean that religion is evil. PEOPLE who use it for the wrong purpose are. just like a gun. you can use it for self defense or you can use it to kill someone.

Okay and what about putting Galileo under house arrest for his new solar system model. Or Martin Luther being forced to recant his beliefs. Do you_ really_ think the church didn't attempt to stop the spread of information?

You do realize that Martin Luther King was extremely religious himself right? I think the key here is not to mindlessly follow any ideology, that includes religion and anti-theism.
