**lapsushominum rolled a random image posted in comment #184 at How to control your dreams [Infographic] ** What I bought with my first paycheck.
I'm not that bad, but I have a good group of players, and I know the rules fairly well. The biggest problem I have is I don't know what all the spells do off hand, so there is a lot of referencing for that.
Although you said 'she is a complete dick' and it made me self conscious for a moment... then I remembered you said you play on Fridays... couldn't possibly be me >.>

Are you guys new to the game?
Other then that, D&D is really what you make of it. Not having any other knowledge of the circumstances, it could be any number of things that are causing you to consider it pitiful.
When push comes to shove though, the only thing that really matters is the answer to this question. Are you (as a group) having fun? If yes, it doesn't matter how pitiful or not your group is. If no, maybe you need to make a change *shrug* Just my thoughts.

As long as you are having fun, none of that matters.
I once played a Bard with amnesia who thought she was a wizard.
I once played a glimmerskin gnome w/ a bronze dragon hatchling cohort who also happened to be a kleptomanic.
The first one my friends all laughed at. The second one I had a member of my group glue something really really shiny to a table with the D&D equivalent of magic superglue just to fuck with her.
one of my players is playing a blind monk-type character. he instafails spot checks.
all of these made or make the game fun for their players. The other players also have/had fun. In the end, thats really all that mattered.
However if you DM your own campaign you'll have the ability to sit down with players with 'pitiful' characters and see if you can't help them make them better... if they *want* better characters. Food for thought
