If I had to guess, I would assume it's because people who swear usually tend not to care what people think, therefore they tend to be more honest because they don't really care if you get offended or not. Or at least that's how I usually think of it.

If my life, well being, family, or money was on the line, I believe that I would much rather place my auspicious faith in a well-mannered individual who did not insist on shouting words of foul language several times a sentence.

I hate people that say swearing a lot makes you less intelligent. If I recall correctly, as someone (the actually quot-er is still debated) once said, "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough."
When I get mad, all I need is one word to explain how I feel.
