bear
with wolfs theres 3 mouths biting at you from 3 different angles, and even if you get lucky and stab one in the neck or something and kill it theres still two others
a bear might kill you easy but you only have to get lucky once
plus killing a bear just sounds like a more badass tale to tell

bear its easier to keep track of 1 animal and the wolves would surround you

The aim is survival and there is a threat of all injuries. You can run away, but you cannot escape without killing the creature(s).

Small to moderate inclines of land. Not flat but not steep.

I mean, that would be most people's only kind of chance in either of the two situations.

So no downhill areas I can run down to cause the bear to tumble, giving me a small window of opportunity to hack out an eye, allowing me to us the blind spot to take the other eye, which, in turn, would let me wait until it slept without fear of it knowing where I was (I would throw my clothes in different directions to confuse it's sense of smell), giving me another window of opportunity to slit it's throat while it slept?

So you're telling me that the fact that bears have much smaller front legs/arms than hind legs impedes them in no way at all when they are moving downhill at speed and moving their centre of gravity towards their front?

And you're telling me that they even run faster as well?! Let me laugh harder.

Huh, my apologies then, I was going by the basic principles of physics, that if a heavy object with a forward centre of gravity were to move down an incline it would tip or fall. I mean, have you ever tried running down a hill on your arms and legs? You fall right over.
