the person who killed Bruce's parents was either Joe Chill or left as unknown. Since the new52 though Joe Chill is the designation of an unknown killer similar to how John Doe is for a corpse. So the killer is not known but still certainly not the joker. In the case of Nolan's movies Joe Chill was hired by the mob and killed outside the courthouse potentially because there was a hit on him or because of some random vigilante type.

You're half right. in the comics Joe Chill was the one who killed Batman's parents.
In the first Tim Burton Batman movie, however, it was the Joker.

Woah, what? No sir, I don't think that's an easily forgettable film. It's as comic-book as you can get and saw amazing performances from both Keaton and Nicholson. So you can take your ire and cram it into a designated ire cramming receptacle.

It was not my purpose to sound irascible, tim burton as recognized he wouldn't read a comic, and that film is more based in the adam west batman (funny as hell) than anything else. Jack Nicholson, like always, was great, and Keaton... well, I don't like him, that's all. I grew up watching those films (including Schumacher ones) and I have nothing against them as fantasy-adventure films for kids, wich they are, but they're not batman films to me. Alan Moore and Frank Miller, among others, made the batman I love. I prefer the animated series and recent direct-to-dvd films (wich are really good) to that 4 movie kind of saga they made. Come on, the sequence in the museum-restaurant with that Prince song was just ridiculous. Oh, and Arkham Asylum was awesome, though I'm not a hardcore game of anything.

TL DR:, just wanted to clear up that I don't HATE tim burton's flicks, i just don't see em as batman films more than the logo, the names and somewhat the suits.
