See, they may look awfully similar, same facial structure, same body type, both have dark hair. But if you look VERY CLOSELY you'd notice that Clark Kent is wearing glasses, Superman however is NOT. see? SEE?! Not the same person.

superman had a suit made for him by some scientist guy ( whose name i obviously cant remember) that acted as sort of a hazmat suit for him but instead it protected him from kryptonite. however the suit was easily damaged and was usually torn during fights.
