Japan: Very tough gun control, family culture based on respect and honor, low crime rate, especially with guns.
Mexico: One of the toughest gun control nations in the world, one of the highest crime rates especially with guns.
Brazil: One of the toughest gun control nations in the world, one of the highest crime rates especially with guns.
UK: Tough gun control, high violence rate.
USA: Mild-moderate gun control. Breakdown of honor and respect in culture. Unsatisfactory family and school system. High violence, including guns. about 50% lower than in the early '80s, and gun ownership has gone up tremendously. For more information look at the FBI statistics.
BONUS: Switzerland: High gun ownership rate due to military conscription, but that's not the point, the population has been highly educated about guns. Low crime rate especially with guns.
Conclusion: We have a culture problem, not a gun problem. Gun crime has gone down, and news coverage has gone up, giving you the illusion of an abnormally high gun crime rate for America.
PS: This is not meant to start a shitstorm, as you won't win, I have so much to say that will counter anything you'd have to say arguing against me. This comment was meant to settle ANY and ALL arguments about gun control. This is the indisputable truth.

The problem we have is gang violence, it takes up about half of our murder rate. These gangs are killing each other for business, control over the drug trade. If we end the war on drugs we'll end gang violence, which will lower our murder rate by half without having to change our gun policies or ban violent video games. But nobody wants to hear that, it's always the gun's fault or the video games.
