Yeah, it's a good thing the chicken got to live such a healthy happy life because of being grown specifically to be slaughtered a fraction of its natural lifespan later.

yes, but my point still stands. You can't save chickens by not ordering Mcnuggets. I'm sorry.

You're right, if everyone stopped buying chicken meat all of the chickens that were grown for their meat would die. But it would put an end to the systematic slaughter and torture of generations upon generations of chickens. Same goes for cows, pigs, goats, turkeys, etc.

You realise that if we stopped eating them, chickens, pigs, and cows would go extinct, right?

Eating meat is a natural thing for humans. Please consider that fact. Yet it is inhuman how we threat the animals. I understand this.

Eating meat out of necessity is a natural thing for humans. Humans were scavengers up until the ice age when plant life died down rapidly and food became scarce to non-existent. Therefore they had to start hunting to stay alive. When the ice age ended those that lived in environments where a vegan diet was plentiful...guess what they did? They stopped hunting and relied on fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, and nuts for sustenance.

You and everybody else in the developed world lives in an environment where a vegan diet is plentiful and abundant. Your stupid "food chain" ******** is a copout invented by the whim of your tastebuds.

Eating a diet with meat has actually proven to be significantly healthier.

But I don't think that that compensates for the fact that we're still killing animals. We can still get the same sustenance from other methods (and, ideally, from artifially grown meat in the future).

Sure, animals do it, but because they actually need to, and because they don't have a superior intelligence that grants them an ability to create ethical guidelines.

Well, to be perfectly frank, there are a million factions of nutrition science all of which hate each other. For instance, I worked in the garden at this raw vegan sanctuary in WA for a while and while I was there I heard so many different sides of JUST the extremely small sub-subfaction of RAW vegan diet. Expand that to diet in general and you have innumerable warring factions.

I, for one, respect the fact that meat is an easy source of complete protein. On the other hand, it's laden with copious amounts of saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium. You can get more complete protein from a few oz. of rice and a few oz. of beans than you can get from similar weight of meat anyways. And depending on what kind of bean (pinto, kidney, black, etc.) even more iron and calcium too. Add on the fact that rice and beans are far easier to digest than meat.

Sorry, I could go on for days. I don't mean to be pretentious or condescending or anything, I'm just a fan of healthy discussion
