That depends on where you're from.
I lived in the U.S for a year as an exchange student, and I noticed that the news over there focused on the bad news. When I got home I was really happy to watch and read news about something else than how many people were killed this week.

That's what I always say

there is always nothing happy, it is just that they make into news a lot nowadays and we watch it

He probably meant murder and natural disasters.

lol i once saw a channel that was basically good news around the world 24/7. it was some kind of religious program, maybe buddhist.

If it was nothing but happy things, would the populace watch it?

I'd like it more if the news paid more attention to the civilians instead of the bad guys in many cases.
I really hate it when someone murders a guy and the murderer is the one who gets all the attention, especially if they want that attention. I definitely know there were cases when the murderer stopped and posed in front of security cameras and those poses were later put up all over the news.
I would much prefer it if the media doesn't grant these people the attention they so clearly crave and instead focus on the tragedy itself and remark how the town is banding together to helping each other through it.
