That's an aircraft inspection, that's not a pilot's uniform and all the instruments indicate the plane's not flying (unless it's perfectly gliding through the air, in which case alpha as FUCK)

But...when you are driving, there are things you can hit. Other cars, street lamps, etc.

In the air, there isn't the same sort of danger. I don't know how to explain it.

not exactly one mile. its typically a thousand feet of clearance between two aircraft.

a few nautical miles horizontally depending on the situation. as for vertical separation it can be as little as 1000 feet once again depending on the situation.
