That's an aircraft inspection, that's not a pilot's uniform and all the instruments indicate the plane's not flying (unless it's perfectly gliding through the air, in which case alpha as ****)

But...when you are driving, there are things you can hit. Other cars, street lamps, etc.

In the air, there isn't the same sort of danger. I don't know how to explain it.

not exactly one mile. its typically a thousand feet of clearance between two aircraft.

a few nautical miles horizontally depending on the situation. as for vertical separation it can be as little as 1000 feet once again depending on the situation.
