Also, pokemon Colosseum and XD were like that. Every battle was a double battle so you couldn't switch out unless you took the turn to do so. Using the set method you start to become a very patient and strategic son of a bitch.

Unless I'm mistaken, that's not entirely true. "SET" made it so that once a Pokemon is sent out, it can't be swapped out unless it is forced out of battle (Roar or something) or it faints.

Althought arcahne I don't really know what you mean. You can -always- swap out Pokemon when it's your turn (unless SET is selected)

No, SET mode simply disable the option to swap Pokémon after KO'ing one of the enemie's, even with SET mode, you can swap anytime it is your turn, at the cost of giving the enemy a free hit in.
