I used to have to wake up at 5:30 due to traffic, living not too close to my school, and the fact that some retard decided it would be funny to start school at 7 am, I got drug tested twice for falling asleep in my first class repeatedly, they didn't even actually check me out to see if I was sleepy or high or give a shit that I had an A in said class, just straight to a nearby clinic for testing.
There was also this one time that a bunch of police started breaking into about 30 random seniors cars on "suspicions" that they had drugs(my high school was right next to a police station), which I didn't believe was legal, but under Bush's fucking dictatorship it apparently was. My school also kept being proud of the fact that 93% of students pass it, but they didn't really mention how high the dropout rates were.
Someone even put bombs in the fucking school, they ended up being harmless smoke bombs but the school still flipped absolute shit.
I don't really think that this shit really scars you for life, but it doesn't exactly garner a love for education.
Glad to be out of there, college is much more relaxed.

Holy shit that sounds exactly like my school...
Same start time, I wake up at the same time, there have been multiple cases of drug dogs searching students in the classroom and their cars, there was a bomb threat a while back where someone put a smoke bomb in a locker, and my school is right next door to a police station. dafuk

last year i got to go to school at 8, getting up at 6:30 to eat and get dressed and then to take the subway. this year they changed my starting period so that i have to get up at 5 am. it doesnt help that a third of all days i either pull all nighters or sleep for only an hour or two.
