In every math class I've ever had, we would receive a failing grade if we didn't solve the problem how to teacher taught, so no, absolutely not "unique" ways to find an answer.

There aren't ever 'Unique' ways to solve a problem. You can't just come up with a way to, I don't know, factor, something.

Well yeah when your doing a test during the course its like that. But on your finals you can solve it however you want to. What my point is that in math you are not supposed to memorize the formula or a way how to solve a problem, but to understand it.
