Nerds today compared to the past are completely different.
Back then it was really just a jock vs nerd thing. I'm pretty sure the reason for most nerds wearing glasses is because of them reading, calculating shit, etc. and this takes a toll on the eyes. I wear contacts because of all the years of staring at a computer screen.
