Here's a question. Does it matter? That was a demo station at a store.

yes. Casuals are the cancer of the gaming industry

No, hardcore gamers ruin the game for me. Especially all the FPS games which i dont play anymore. Im a hardcore gamer myself but i rather play against noobs than other hardcore gamers anyday.

Thats why i stick to games like WoW which is mostly based upon class choice and talents. It would be nice if they balanced the game a bit and made gear not so easy to get.

Minecraft is pretty fun too and i build castles and wonders, while others just build cobbleboxes.

I dont play FPS games because they are bullshit.

So playing a sports game on a demo station at a store is bad?
User avatar #18 to #17 - kirkbot (01/19/2013) [-]
no, unless they are monitored by the gaming industry to research what games people like.
Being a casual gamer is bad mkay?

i just noticed this, you're OP! Why are you saying playing NBA 2k13 is bad when you uploaded a picture of yourself playing NBA 2k13, and if it isn't you that's a bit creepy...

Maybe people are casual gamers because they have lives and don't have time to spend fucking around on games all day.
User avatar #33 to #18 - dashdashdash (01/19/2013) [-]
Lol I really hope you're joking.

Just because you're a "Real Gamer" and you play "Real Games"
Doesn't make you any better than people who just play video games for fun every now and then
User avatar #34 to #33 - kirkbot (01/19/2013) [-]
it doesn't make me better, but the gaming industry sold out to casuals, ruining the fun for hardcore gamers
User avatar #35 to #34 - dashdashdash (01/19/2013) [-]
it didn't ruin shit, there are awesome games coming out each year that can be enjoyed by everyone, both casual and "real gamers"

Stop being a dick and enjoy the games.

So what you're saying is they need more FPS games, with the pew pew, the ironic anti terror messages and middle schoolers who banged everyone's mothers?
User avatar #22 to #21 - kirkbot (01/19/2013) [-]
I never said that
User avatar #23 to #22 - javis (01/19/2013) [-]
Hardcore gamers are just lazy do nothings that don't have a job and use that title for an excuse to feel better about themselves, but lets face it, all they do is play a good 10 hours of video games and have nothing good to contribute to society.

What if these "Hardcore gamers." want to play something different for a change and pop in a sports game instead of the usual MMO RPG?

What if the real Cancer is the hardcore and the casual just wants to have fun but the dick head on the other side of the world is being a spoil sport and being a tool to everyone because he has a microphone.
User avatar #26 to #23 - kirkbot (01/19/2013) [-]

I do it, I'm sick of M rated games focused on realistic graphics, I play Madden, GT5, TF2, and even pop up my oldschool games every now and then! Hardcore and M is overrated, Hardcore is cancer, casual is only bad if they only go for party games, I happen to like Video Games, like JRPG's, other FPS's, racers, sports, platformers, shmups, beatemups, and more. javis is right, hardcore gives gamers a bad name, casuals just want to have fun. I want to have fun, not feel so alpha that I want to beat up a GF (if I had one).

User avatar #106 to #105 - davycrocket (01/22/2013) [-]
Just because people who play it don't pay doesn't mean it's casual.
User avatar #107 to #106 - frenchfryy (01/22/2013) [-]
Consider the Following: Halo, CoD, Mario, and the Sims, at one point were games made for nerds like us, but since mainstream audiences started playing video games and entering the video game communities, they have since been called casual games because for the most part they play to casual audiences. I know this is obviously a hipster statement (I'm not a hipster in video games anymore, because i don't want to be associated with the immature so called hardcore fanbase) but this is the definition I get out of people who define games as Casual, and TF2 entered that realm since going F2P.
User avatar #108 to #107 - davycrocket (01/22/2013) [-]
I think that the original mario games, Halo and CoD are all still games that aren't casual. I honestly always thought the sims was casual though. I think TF2 is good, because it's good for casuals and hardcore gamers alike. While it isn't what it's always been, it's certainly not a casual game. Just because the audience is different doesn't mean it is different.
User avatar #109 to #108 - frenchfryy (01/22/2013) [-]
I agree with that completely, but you see, society can be dumb and stuck in their ways. They have to separate things to make themselves feel better and be on higher ground rather than sharing with the rest of the populace. Imagine that I'm a genius, I have knowledge that can cure everything, I can either give this knowledge to people so that they can cure everything and live happily, or I can be an ass and put myself on a higher pedestal because I am a genius and therefore I'm better than everyone. It hasn't changed then, it won't change now

technically, I'm hardcore, I've been playing video games for 20 years, I'm 23, I've played all sorts. I've played some so called "hardcore games" in recent memory, and honestly I've rarely ever enjoyed them, I've enjoyed games like Oblivion, Borderlands 1, Bioshock 1 and 2, and others. However, many so called "hardcore games" I feel are more or less targeted towards kids rather than adults, and I feel more immature while playing them than I would playing another game. Consider this video for example
www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTQFpwZwk-w
do you feel badass and mature? I certainly don't
now consider this piece from Pokemon
www.youtube.com/watch?v=k581SoBWe9Q
honestly, I feel that certain video games targeted towards kids tell better stories, use better music, and gameplay styles better than most "hardcore games", this is something I've learned over the years after playing so many games, in fact, recent hardcore games I've played disappointed me, Borderlands 2, Dead Space 1 (I felt it was too bland), Red Dead Redemption (too glitchy), Skyrim (also too glitchy), GTA4, and others. I feel there's really no line between what's "hardcore" and "casual", because the way I see it, hardcore gamers are the more immature and elitist group than the casuals who want to have fun and enjoy a pleasurable experience filled with laughter, fear, anger, and excitement.

Wow, an entire game ruined by glitches? That's just being to judgmental...unless it was Two Worlds then it would make some sense. But RDR and Skyrim? That's just ridiculous.
User avatar #88 to #81 - frenchfryy (01/19/2013) [-]
you'd be surprised how a lack of polish can ruin an experience, Skyrim for example, so many times I have to stop playing it because Glitches would break the game. Considering it's the PS3 model it's not surprising, but even still everything I do there's bound to be a glitch, the Civil war questline, for example, multiple times has broken on me (Fort Amol wouldn't even have the battle ready!), my character would freeze in water breaking the game, annoying pop up dead monsters and people, or here's something I noticed! I would literally be completely hidden, unlock something (lets say to break into a house for quest purposes), and still get caught... How does that work? The lack of polish drove me nuts so bad with Skyrim that I've stopped playing it all together, why bother playing a game if it can't even handle itself, the only game glitchier than Skyrim would be Sonic 06, the only difference is that Skyrim is at least still enjoyable to play sometimes.

I guess you haven't either been playing games for a long enough time to notice, or don't know much about coding. It is virtually impossible unless it was done by a machine for the code to do anything in a game to have some spots that are broken. They get fixed eventually but to get rid of all the "game breaking glitches" especially when a game is released is absolutely impossible, if the code is complex.

You mentioned it was the PS3 model, now that is the first problem, all that you mentioned is common for the PS3. I bought Skyrim on xbox and my close friend bought it on PS3 i finished the main quest line faster than he did even though i had a 120 hours before i finished the final quest. He only had 40 hours. What we did was once we found out that the PS3 version was severely bugged he just went at the main quest line ( we included the civil war because that seems like it should be apart of the main quest line in some way) so he started a new character along with me. I was able to do so many side quests misc. and guild related it was getting ridiculous. So many times he had to revert back to saves hours behind because of the bugs. Needless to say he got rid of his PS3 out of anger and used the extra cash for a high end gaming PC he made.

If the second part is TL;DR for you; basically, the PS3 version of the game is so bug ridden you can't judge the game for it's flaws as far as glitches, major and minor.

I'm just gonna point out that Devil May Cry is a prettty great game =P it's got weird humour; when I was like 12, 13 I loved the DMC games but when I was 14, 15, 16, I was embarassed to play them because of their cheesy over-emphasis on being edgy and epic and the one-liner-ness of the protagonist, but once you get older and chill out and care lees about how silly works of fiction are, they're just FUN. So, tl;dr solid point but I wanted to point out that if you find DMC lame and try-hard-ish then it's mission is totally accomplished =)
