The woman is using her whole body. The soldiers are using only their arms. I'm guessing the woman only held it up to poise for a picture. The guys on the left have to hold it for a couple hours, all the while they're running from place to place. Think about running 10 miles. Pretty bad, right? Now think about running 10 miles while you're carrying a fucking 600 pound log above your head. You're not allowed to let it rest on your head.

I'm not even sure the picture on the right is real, anyways. On a different time this was posted someone said it was from a Russian comedy movie. I can't be sure though.

It's called hell week. Those men aren't 100%. Google is your friend, bromigo.

i mean the way they carry it on the left is much more painful but alright.

This, though balancing it on one's shoulder must be pretty tough.
User avatar #35 to #23 - contradiction (01/18/2013) [-]
ya but compare to the other it is much, much, much easier

You are doing it with 6 other men..
User avatar #49 to #40 - contradiction (01/18/2013) [-]
think about this, they have to support the log with their arms for a long period of time after they are both mentally and physically exhausted.

But still, they're military men, she's an old woman.
User avatar #202 to #89 - contradiction (01/19/2013) [-]
are you really that ignorant? they are men, not super beings. they have little food, little sleep, miles of running, etc... anyone who agrees with this picture is just a retarded fuck.
User avatar #43 to #40 - thewildcat (01/18/2013) [-]
Yeah you mean after only about an hour of sleep, a few miles of running with heavy packs on, after a mile swim in freezing cold water, whilst doing numerous hours of both physically and mentally exhausting exercises designed to wear down the human body; done by men who are revered as one, if not the greatest special forces, in the world?

Yeah, those guys have it easier

She's a woman alone, against 6 men. With the exhaustion required for 6 men to equal 1 woman in strength you couldn't use any energy for facial expressions anymore.

Get your shit together.

The difference is weight distribution. The six men are trying to support the log equally but only on arm strength, the older lady(very impressive still) is supporting the weight on the much stronger core muscles. The core muscles are required to work constantly whereas the arms are generally only required for short periods of time, that's what makes supporting the log harder is that is essentially "marathon work for a sprint runner".

They're also relying on arm strength only. She's carrying it by supporting it directly above her center of mass, which is a much easier method as it uses the stronger muscles of the legs and torso rather than the weaker muscles of the arms and shoulders.

ya but they hold it for a long time.
#27 to #17 - madddeath (01/18/2013) [-]
they move it from shoulder to shoulder for up to 3 hours
User avatar #28 to #27 - contradiction (01/18/2013) [-]
i know, i've watched surviving the cut and all those things on the military channel, but i don't remember it being 3 hours.

my uncle actually tried to be a green beret (he didn't make it) he said when someone wouldn't pull there own weight the entire group was punished and had to do it longer his was around an hour or so he says some went for longer but it doesn't happen the 3 hours very often
User avatar #30 to #29 - contradiction (01/18/2013) [-]
i know that if they mess up they have to go to a much heavier log
#31 to #30 - madddeath (01/18/2013) [-]
i forget how much they weighed but i for some reason want to say 1200lbs? im unsure memory is blurred could be a completely different weight than that
User avatar #34 to #31 - contradiction (01/18/2013) [-]
