People who aren't holier-than-thou pricks usually don't point out shit like that.

This shit pisses me off. People post and blog about the stupid shit they do and people eat the shit and love it. They love it because they feel above it and can laugh about it. But then someone posts about something good that they did and people accuse them of showing off. Maybe they wanted to lift someones spirits. Maybe they wanted to help a homeles FEEL FUCKING APPRECIATED. sorry about that. im fine now

Yes he has a point. Still its better to buy homeless man a meal and brag then not to buy it at all

What I dont get is.....what is this doing on FJ? It not funny, nor very clever, sick, feely or anything....it just is

Absolutely everything humans do is selfish. You work for a charity, or volunteer to help starving children? The end result is that you feel good inside. You get off of that feeling. Of course, that doesn't invalidate your actions.

There is no such thing as true selflessness or generosity.

Mfw people are only kind and generous when they can show of their kindness...

Last year, I gave a homeless man 5 dollars. He was hit and killed by a car a week later.

that pretty much sums up the internet

well, sorry,I fail to see the part where they said "I bought him a meal,I AM A GOOD PERSON RIGHT???"

they just said they did so.

what do you prefer?
someone posting about how the last duckface party was the perfect occasion to get stoned with some weed,or someone saying what nice things he did during the day?

(and I'm pretty sure the guy pointing this out would never do something like that, seriously.)

I once gave a homeless man about 15 quid and my hoodie, was super drunk at the time and apparently it seemed liked a good idea

That logic gets on my nerves. When people do something nice, they have every damn right to share it. Not "brag" about it, but just sharing it is fine. Telling people doesn't make them any less generous. Bragging, yes. However, this person wasn't bragging. She was just posting it.
What, it's only generous if you keep it a well-hidden secret?
Basically:
Buying a burger at McDonald's= Okay to post.
Do something nice= Not okay to post, automatically bragging.
That's fucking stupid. When you do something nice you have every right to be proud of yourself and feel like a good person. As long as you're not bragging and throwing it in people's faces, what's the issue in mentioning it?

Shut up.
No, really just shut up. These people probably also complain about Bono and shit
'Look at that guy, using his time and money on charity to change the world. Helping people out. I hate that guy.'

remember in fable 1 when you could choose to help people, and brag about it, abd take bets. the greatest example of that.

Yeah, what a tool! Doing something nice for a less fortunate person, who does that shit?? It's MUCH more fun to criticize someone on facebook.

Eat a million dicks, OP.

So, "not bragging of yourself" equals to "making a witty comment on facebook and then screenshotting it just to upload it on funnyjunk"?
you're scum.
#28 - nordicmike (01/16/2013) [-]
Are you that much of a negative shit that you have to see that as bragging. It's more like someone stating a generous deed because he/she said nothing to praise themselves.
User avatar #11 - grocer (01/16/2013) [+] (2 replies)
Anyone who does work for charity or donates money does it for themselves. Even if it is just to get a warm fuzzy feeling. It is not a selfless act.

Bragging about good deeds/donating to charity is not charity, you are paying in deeds/donating to make yourself look good.

For example every company that does work for the community and donates to charity.

I'm not saying that doing it is wrong, but why not do it anonymously if you actually care?

How about he go and do some good instead of being a dick..
User avatar #93 - soggytomatoe (01/16/2013) [+] (2 replies)
Don't do something nice for homeless person- People will call you an self-centered asshole and say your a terrible person for not helping someone less fortunate

Do something nice for someone and talk about it- Someone will say something douchebaggy like the prick in the post

Moral of the story- There's always one asshole who will make you feel like shit no matter what you do and people are dicks
User avatar #54 - pianoasis (01/16/2013) [+] (5 replies)
They're doing it for attention, but they also happened to help a homeless person along the way, so you really can't judge.

Wow OP you're such a cool person for being a dick to someone who did a good deed.
