Maybe it's biologically immortal, like lobsters. They've got stuff which "replenishes" their DNA or something. They won't die until they're eaten, cruhed, or whatever it is.

It depends on which sense you are referring to. In general terms, immortal means never dying, as in it can never die from anything thrown at it. But in biological terms it merely means that time itself won't be the cause of it's eventual death, there has to be outside factors like disease or trauma to kill it.

Immortal means that it can't die. It's really that simple.
