Used to justify said acts
User avatar #45 to #34 - zukowashere (01/16/2013) [-]
Except people are still doing the justification. Religion alone does nothing except spread an idea. It takes people to put that idea into action. I still don't understand how an idea/object can be blamed for what people do with it.

Pretty sure the 10 commandments kinda discourage that.
User avatar #27 to #23 - icanhazrape (01/16/2013) [-]
You say it as if the 10 commandments are a part of every religion. Religion doesn't equal Christianity.......
User avatar #40 to #27 - zukowashere (01/16/2013) [-]
This post was speaking of Christianity, so was I.
User avatar #146 to #40 - icanhazrape (01/16/2013) [-]
Then you say Christianity. To act as if all Religion amounts to is Christianity is to be conceited
User avatar #24 to #23 - Bohya (01/16/2013) [-]
If history (and even modern day) is anything to go by, I'm pretty certain there was no signs of ''discouragement'' present.

Not religion's fault if those people can't follow it correctly. Like saying it's a gun's fault if I shoot someone.

Religion, what if...what if its causing things like wars and deaths to happen....
Oh what if some one disagrees with a country and their religion tells them to remove them since they are seen as unclean... nah that would never happen, its all just plane wrong, i have to give my bad grammar and spelling a 9 out of 11.

So it's religion's fault if a few extremists took a plane and flew it into a building? Sure you could argue about the Crusades, or the **** going on the in the Middle East, you could mention the Spanish Inquisition, or you could even mention Jihad. Those are all more relevant than 9/11.

You are making the assumption that those men in that plane spoke for the whole Islamic world. The same way this post is speaking for the entire Christian world. Neither Christianity nor Islam are bad. It's the few like the Westboro Baptist Church that disgrace people.

Crusades were mostly centered around the Holy Land. First crusade was to save Constantinople, but it ended up being pillaged on the way there. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th were to get the Muslims out of Judea.

If it had been only about trading, the Pope wouldn't have gotten involved.
