Oh **** off OP. Why should any of us care? Why would would I spend any of my time, helping someone I don't know, because someone claims he was doing something for freedom of whatever or some other nonsense? Why should any of us try to bail someone out of prison for being an idiot? Regardless of what his intent was, his execution was still in violation of the law. If I went and found every sex offender in my area, and went and murdered the **** out of them, would anyone bail me out of prison? **** no. But why not? I was just trying to make the world safer for children. Because I was a complete ******* idiot, broke the **** out of the law, and got thrown in prison as a result. Theres a petition to help this guy, that's ******* genius. **** me, know what would have been a better idea? Maybe a ******* petition to try and obtain whatever information he was after, instead of trying to steal it. Holy **** , how did nobody think of that? It's not like a petition is going to accomplish anything, but that's one less idiot in jail, and one less wasted post on funnyjunk with exactly the same outcome, nothing.

TL;DR OP is a faggot, I hope this guy gets brutally sodomized in prison.

You are selfish, self centered, pathetic little prick.

" First they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me."

They take freedom away from us, piece by piece, and idiots like you hide the fact they are lazy assholes by saying "its the law".

He faced 13 felony charges, not just stealing the files from MIT. So 50 years sounds about right.

All I'm saying is that the Maximum time for his crime was 36 years. Not 50.

the point still stands, worse crimes still have less time

Change would be difficult.

You can guarantee those "publishers" are going to defend their right to do this.

And in the end, I doubt enough people would get involved for anything to actually happen.

And believe me when, I want change too.

Damn, I'm gonna go ahead and say that maybe from about 1995 to about 2008 was the Internet Renaissance. It was a period of growth for our culture and ended once certain parts of our culture became mainstream and misused, and when the government really started interfering. Now, it's a Revolution against infringement of freedom. Godspeed, internet users...

Not my petition, mind you, but here's one that would help weaken organizations opposing internet freedom:

This petition has reached it's goal, but I'm glad I checked. I don't give a **** if this wasn't funny - at least I found out about it, as opposed to being oblivious otherwise. I think we're all capable of going 10 seconds without a meme or humor .gif, especially for something that actually matters.

What does religions and governments have in common?

Both demand epistemophobia from their people. Otherwise it is to hard to rule over them.

For the new guys, epistemophobia is the fear of knowlege.
