I've always wanted to see like, 2 people having sex that are below the age of consent (wait.. i'm going somewhere with this, trust me) and the s.w.a.t busting the ******* door in and tearing them off each other, only to carry them outside, into a police car

17 to join the army actually bub, just need parents consent and a note from your student counsellor saying you are on track for graduation, also have to be at least a Jr.

You can also get a video game with your parents. I was referring to things you do by yourself.

Close, you can be 16 to be in the reserves (but many recruiting centers say 17 for some reasons). But I believe you can't be deployed until you're 18.

It was like that for Marine Corps boot camp. But that makes sense since people can get deployed only 2 months after its over.

User avatar #167 to #166 - thepyras (01/14/2013) [-]
Nah, I'm an American. It's like being a 'merican, except I'm in college. I'm really a lot more like a Canadian, though. My friends who've been to Canada say that I seem like I fit there more so than here.
#168 to #167 - thumblocked (01/14/2013) [-]
Well I don't judge. I like most of the americans I've met. So you like maple syrup and beer?
User avatar #169 to #168 - thepyras (01/14/2013) [-]
I don't really drink, but I love syrup. In fact I go to Cracker Barrel (home cooking restaurant, not just a gathering place for white people) just for their tiny syrup bottles.

I love you as well, but why do you say that?
#172 to #171 - thumblocked (01/14/2013) [-]
Because being french canadien, maple syrup is as much in our culture as the desire to separate ;)
User avatar #173 to #172 - thepyras (01/14/2013) [-]
To separate what?
#174 to #173 - thumblocked (01/14/2013) [-]
On two occasions, Quebec has voted to separate from the rest of Canada. The first vote was lost by a lot, but the second one was only lost by 0.1%. So Canada was damn close to losing a province. The ongoing joke in Canada is that all people from Quebec want to separate.
User avatar #175 to #174 - thepyras (01/14/2013) [-]
Oh, ok. I'm sorry, I probably should have known that. I thought you were making a joke about cutting down trees. It's a joke around here, primarily because of the Wolverine movie, that lumber is Canada's main industry.

Can't be shipped out until active duty until you are 18 though.
Besides which, the training in the British Army is long and thorough that even if you join up at 16 you would be near enough 18 before you became a fully trained soldier anyway.

Because being in the army is a more controlled environment that is designed to teach you self discipline and skill in combat situations whereas a video game kills the senses in the frontal lobe and make you more emotionless towards the loss of human life? maybe?

This coming from a very avid gamer by the way.

It does improve hand-eye coordination and general awareness (possible reaction time) but it does not improve your eye sight (all televisions emit radiation that damages the eyes) and what I stated was it's effect on the brain. Video games generally cause an increase in aggression and a decrease in responsive activity from the brain when considering the loss of human life (that, of course, depends on what games you play but the content is aiming at war games).

More than half of that was completely irrelevant. I just said that we are talking about war games, that is what the post is about and those cause aggression and a diminished sense of morality involving human life. Your arguments for any other games is useless and I already mentioned it in the comment before yours. There was no point at all in typing it.

I countered with the worsened eye sight because you said it "improves your sight" but it does not. Whether a tiny bit or a lot, it makes your eye sight slowly worse.
User avatar #143 to #80 - scottsselfdefense (01/14/2013) [-]
i can see that but at the same time killing a human is still killing a human, and you have a good possibility of being killed yourself. also they dont give a **** if youre underage theyll let u drink. at least from what i understand
#96 to #80 - Xepheros (01/14/2013) [-]
Uhm. No. Just... No.

The military is a place where you learn that the difference between Justice and Murder is merely government order, and video-games are pretty much not a part of your emotional response to human death in any way or form. If you believe what science tells us, anyway.
User avatar #184 to #96 - IamSofaKingdom (01/15/2013) [-]
Murder is taking a life for a negative purpose (desire for killing, revenge, etc). Justice has always been about the majority or government order. That is how justice came to exist.

Also scientific research shows that the human brain has certain reactions and activities when the concept of another humans death is introduced. The response is significantly stifled after long periods of video games. Death of another person becomes mundane or even glorified (especially with movies). It is the same as brain activity being slowed or stopped when watching television.
