They're pretty liberal about it. The biggest difference from the US is that they focus more on vetting gun owners rather than giving out licenses like candy.

homicide rate is pretty fucking low and people can own pretty much all the same guns they can in the us, the difference being that you need a license before you can buy, and they're less worried about registration and more about training the owners.
