don't kill me for askin but why aren't Pokemon graphics as good as any other game today? I mean whyd they keep it so retro? I'd think they'd benefit alot from a cool #3D RPG-ish game like skyrim.

Because it proves you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.

Because A) graphics mean nothing, and they focus more on gameplay, and B) Game Freak isn't really all that interested in a non-portable Pokemon game, if a recent interview is anything to go by. So yeah, they're restricted to portable gaming graphics.

I understand that.. it seems that most Pokemon players these days are nostaligiac people at least in my opinion. Just imagine a pokemon world with next gen graphics where you could interact with the world as with skyrim or other RPG. maybe there could be even a multiplayer option for trading or fighting each other which I thought was the purpose in pokemon world- to be the best comparably between other real people. Idk I dropped pokemon after the first few since it lacked innovation (go ahead and rip my head off) . I just think people shouldn't jump on a bandwagon simply because it's a "classic" and actually compare it to other games as if the preceding games never existed..

On no, I'm not a nostalgia-based fan. In fact, my favorite Generation of Pokemon is the 3rd and most recently 5th, with 4th generation housing my favorite starters to date.

That said, they added that online you're talking about, with robust trading and battling alike. The Pokemon for the DS (and the upcoming 3DS installation, which houses an almost entirely 3D world) have added, well, quite a lot without going too far away from the core of Pokemon.

I, too, dream of a Pokemon that is similar to TES series or some sort of sandbox game, but unfortunately Game Freak isn't interested in that--at least not yet. God knows if Nintendo will allow a 3rd party to develop some spin-off of the series, but they're making leaps with this new 3DS one.

Also, go back and play the most recent ones. They still feel like Pokemon, yes, much like Halo 4 still feels like Halo and Tales of Xillia still feels like Tales, but they've added quite a lot of subtle and not-so-subtle changes over the years that you'd be impressed. If you don't have the system, emulating it is pretty good so I've heard.

because RPG audience is 18-25 year old guys ,
but pokemons audience is suppose to be 7-12 year olds ...
THAT been said .. in the lattest Speach about Pkmn X & Y ...
the Nintendo CEO (at least thats who i think he is) said that
"Some of you may remember Red and Blue" ... so he does understand
that there are people that are over 20 years old playing pkmn ,
but he thinks we are minority ... the FOOL !

i dont get it,why put so many strategies, factors(nature,EV,IV) etc... if you dont think anyone will use it? (as a kid i only gave a **** about the level of a pokemon and i presume thats what everyone did at that age,i might be wrong)

No no EV and IV are just to make each pokemon unique .
Put programmers wanted to look at how Nintendo had programmed the game ,
and how each pokemon has such unique stats... and then they gave out the algoriths ...
and people learned about the EV and IV systems ... and people Abused it to make PokeGods..
And there you have it .
