And that's just your opinion, I found it funny. Because you didn't like doesn't mean OP has to stfu about religion and stuff. He made a joke, most people thought it was funny, if you didn't just skip instead of telling other to stfu about their beliefs.

their beliefs?! Last time I checked atheism meant to not believe in God, not try to diss christians on Facebook, I have no problem with atheists, I have a problem with the stereotypical internet atheist who makes other educated atheists look bad: www.youtube.com/watch?v=slKULc8W7lM

apparently your point is insufficient for what they have to say. probably because they have nothing at all to boast about. atheists are like that (yup i went there). therefore they proceed to dismiss your grades for any merit in this thread.
but in my opinion, thumb for you. good luck during the rest of this *********

Yes, but saying grades has NOTHING to do with intelligence is absurd. A large part of intelligence is being able to grasp and put to use difficult concepts. This is vital in subjects like math and science. And I'm a freshmen in high school.

When it comes to mathematics and the sciences, concepts can be fully assimilated through mild studying and practice. I recall when I was taking calculus for the first time at your age, there was a student in my class who could recite formulae and was an overall exemplary student, but when asked to explain anything by the lesser students, he was struck aghast at the thought. He could do well, but he failed to understand the curriculum in its entirety. When I spoke with him further, I found he was an idiot. although he had a GPA of 4.5, mine being 4.9 (AP and honors classes bumped it up from the measly 4.0 maximum for regular classes) at the time.

Intelligence has very little to do with academic achievement, as through the acts of paying attention and studying occasionally, understanding taught material is basic. Intelligence abates the issue of struggling to understand content, but one cannot assume that one is intelligent based upon grades alone, because effort can just as easily compensate for lack of intelligence. I apologize if I'm explaining this poorly.

What you're saying is true in the case of basic classes. But one does not reach and succeed in difficult or advanced courses based on effort alone. In that case, intelligence plays a far more prominent role.

One does not require any actual intelligence to perform admirably in school. Often, intelligence can be quantified in ones ability to process and retain information. This can be done through an IQ test, although these often yield results that aren't a true reflection of ones acuity. Furthermore, intelligence is very broad, and cannot be gauged readily through a standard testing method. For example, one may have stupendous aptitude for abstract thought, but at the same time may lack quantitative research skills.

I see no reason for you to attack me ad hominem. I was just bringing up the fact that it's very easy to do well in school with a small amount of effort, and doing so doesn't signify intelligence. I apologize if you were offended by my thesis.

Getting good grades doesn't mean you understand the stuff you were getting the grades for.

People with bad grades can be smarter than the ones with better grades (not saying everyone with bad grades are smart)

Just because one got good grades for learning 2+2 = 4 doesn't mean he is smart or intelligent, intelligence comes from understanding and thinking. Remembering a thing you were told to remember 100 times doesn't make you intelligent.

We call people who know many things "smart" and "intelligent" like we call racers "good drivers", only because they took the time to learn one thing over and over and over. That is not intelligence, that is knowledge and doesn't make anyone more intelligent.
