Had about the same incident at Walgreens just recently. An older lady came to the register to ring her stuff up. Her subtotal was over fifty dollars, and I make it a habit to check customers' ID for transactions over that amount. So I ask her for it, and she gets all insulted. "I'm in here all the time! I get orders of pictures over fifty dollars all the time and they've never carded me before! I'm gonna talk to your manager!"

The lady behind her was cool, trying to stick up for me by telling her that she actually appreciated what I had done, with the problems going around with stolen identities and stuff. It didn't work, but my manager was cool with it anyway.

Who seriously gets insulted over crap like this?

I hear ya. Thank god this was a one time deal. Some people get offended when you check their 50's to make sure they're real.

That's happened to me too. For some reason, Hispanics in our area pay with fifties and hundreds a lot, and I've had several get pissy with me when I check them, like I'm accusing them of something.
