See, it doesn't matter. People try and make the argument over which is better.. when really they aren't very similar. Lord of the Rings is based in a completely fictional world, set in a time that is no where near that of Harry Potter. Lord of the Rings is more of an adventure, in the sense that the characters are constantly moving towards a predetermined goal, across countries and over mountains. Harry Potter, for the majority of the story, takes place in the walls of Hogwarts. It only ever really has this sense of adventure and imminent disaster toward the end of the series.
Harry Potter is an amazing series, but for different reasons that Lord of the Rings is. LotR is based in a world that has entire written and spoken languages, and well developed lore. LotR was created as a way to convey and popularize the Language that Tolkien had created. There are other books based in the same world, but in another age, such as the Silmarillion.
The only thing I have against Harry Potter, and a lot of the fantasy that is written now, is that the books are written with the intent of having it made into a movie. The way that authors write now is based around cinema.. which results in a lot lower quality literature. That's why I tent to prefer the classics.

it was longer, and I grew up reading the books(which got me into reading andwriting in the first place) so, while I like harry potter more, that doesnt change the fact the the LOTR is one of the most badass movie experiences of all time
An epic story about supernatural creatures and their place in modern society with humans, filled with epic battles and true love, is much better than some stupid story about a guy getting lost on the boat home and then killing a bunch of guys who tried to bang his wife.
Precisely and I have never read them but I do own the trilogy, I grew up reading stuff more like Eragon, Narnia, and I did have one more in mind but I can't quite think of it. I know these aren't the best examples of fantasy but I'm also more of a gamer than a reader
Well recently I've just been replaying all the Elder Scrolls so I can refresh some of my Tamriel history but pretty much anything goes for gaming whether Fantasy or not but it is my preferred genre. Uh besides that I try to stick to shooters and very few racers. And I must agree symbolism is always a good thing to add to anything whether stories, music, films, games, etc.
I was mostly rose up on electric, techno, trance surprisingly thanks to my brother. It started with Daft Punk but as more artists came out my interests started to multiply and I still listen to similar genres today. I feel bad because you are learning much about me but I'm not asking much about you in return.
It's been years since I have read Deadpool, what volume are they at now? But then again I could look that up myself. But as far as the parkour and ninjitsu go I would have to say that is pretty badass, are you good at them?
yeah, there are tutorials on youtube, I am husky too I used to weigh 14 stone but now I'm down to 9 but I still have a wide figure, the adrenaline can be overwhelming at times especially if you are listening to good music, this is me btw www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jvb-nbwUkWc
Well obviously admon is trying to tell us the conversation is over. Hope to see you again man and by the time spring is here hopefully I can post something relative to our conversation. But it was amazingly fun to chat with you.
yeah, just take it one day at a time, if you go in too hard and get upset because you aren't making progress then you will become unmotivated and fail, the only way you can fail at an art is to give up, every bit of progress is a success even if you fall on your ass
