I've always wondered though. "I don't want to go"? Doesn't he only change forms? What is so gruesome about that?

the "person" of the current body dies, and the new one is like a whole new person with all the old ones memories

well... you have the memory defining you, but also the doctors each regeneration has an "age", for example the first doctor was almost granpa-like, and the eleventh is just dashing around in youth. so that changes things also

And to more properly, they're not the same bodies. Take every single doctor up next to one-another and ask them. They will not have the same experiences. One after another however, will have the previous' memories as well as his own. So its pretty much like meeting yourself 1 or 10 years ago. At some point of your younger age when you hadn't experienced as much. BUT, should you ever take the memories and put them into two being simultaniously, would they be the same person? I don't see that possible. They would in such a case be Doctor 1# and Doctor 2#. They would not be the very same one, because the very moment they awoke with the same memories, they started two seperate lives. Therefore they would not be the same one.

Apply that, and think about the Doctors. It seems to me that they're clones of one-another that takes over for its predecessor in perfect succession. One die, another steps right on in.

But one had to die.

Oooooh, I see... So he DOES die, and simply pass on the memories?
