whats with Ho-Oh anyways? He was in the first episode, yet not in the first season officially. He was a legendary in the second but not very important to the whole of the show. He is one of the only legendaries to not have a movie. He appeared as a transformation of mew. wtf

I assume it's rather self explanatory. And I'm sure the reason they did that is because they planed on expanding past Generation one pokemon from the beginning, so it was understandable that there would be pokemon beyond the original 150(151, whatever). I guess it was to show the viewers, "Who was the pokemon? Why isn't he in the pokedex?"
