As an American,
I really wish they would have taught the metric system in school. It's a pain in the ass not knowing it when I see something labeled in it.
I also see it as being pretty asinine that we refuse to essentially make communication with the rest of the world just that much easier.

Thanks again American education. . . .

Actually I think the reasoning behind our weird ass system is that a system based on 12 is more divisible as opposed to the metric system's pretty numbers that are based on 10.

i dont see how 12 is more divisible than 10 in a base 10 number system. maybe thats just me.
how many centimeters in a meter? how many meters in a kilometer? how many centimeters in a kilometer? youre just increasing or decreasing by a factor of 10. easy to do in your head.
how many inches in a foot? how many feet in a mile? how many inches in a mile? that takes a little more thought.

well think about it, 10 is divisible by 1,2,5, and itself.

where 12 is divisible by 1,2,3,4,6, and itself.

They teach us both in my school district, pretty much one right after the other, a week on US and then a week on Metric, I think, they may have changed it. Either way, not sure why it wasn't taught to you.

What kind of school did you go to? I've been forced to use the metric system since the 4th grade and I hate it.

it takes 10 ******* minutes to learn the metric system, i learned it in elementary school... in America. i dont know why we dont use it but quit crying about how you wish you'd learned it

If if I did learn it, the U.S. Measurement System will always come to mind first when thinking about thinking about measurements or temperature and I would always compare measurements in the metric system to those in the U.S. System

"1k? oh a little under a mile"
