Because spiders inhabit nearly every corner of the earth. While scorpions usually tend to stay in deserts.

Couple months ago a hiker in my area died from a brown recluse bite over a major artery.

im pretty sure spiders kill far more people than scorpions and it is much easier for them to move from habitat to habitat i work in a grocery store and in the last month have had 2 black widow spiders in the bananas

Iraq, '09. Desert scorpions. They're ******* everywhere. Not sure if the soldier died, but he did get pretty damn ill.
My point was that people have an irrational fear of spiders and they shouldn't be feared at all. They're actually beneficial because they eat other pests like flies, mosquitoes and cockroaches.

And scorpions aren't beneficial? Camel Spiders in Iraq/Kuwait are far worse than scorpions.

Scorpions aren't really house-dwelling arachnids so I wouldn't call them "beneficial" exactly, but they're not much to be feared either. Unless you're camping in the desert and one happens to crawl into your sleeping bag, but that's another story.
