I tried watching the episode last night, but it gone past the point of no return. It has been reduced to bad jokes about every single thing that comes up in conversation, and random punches at Meg.

I disagree. For example that joke about Nathaniel Hawthorne ruining 9th grade for everybody was very funny and clever.
