I think that's a dick move from Samuel L Jackson there. Reporters (especially white ones) have to be incredibly careful not to cause offence in anyway or they could lose their job and all credibility and effectively ruin their whole career and life. I wouldn't want to say it on air either, even though I believe no one should take offence to the word. Samuel L Jackson is intimidating the reporter into risking his career for no reason.

Wow, I read it totally different. To me, it's more like Samuel Jackson is trying to take away the discomfort and surrounding the word, making it easier to discuss it.
