There is a difference between intelligence and knowledge. Just because they don't know a few cultural references does not mean that they are unintelligent. I'm tired of this argument.

I'm going to get hate for this but Dude, they're 13, just because they don't know the two are related before they see the movie doesn't mean they're bad people. I know The Hobbit and LOTR are books but not everyone has read or disused every book. I wouldn't be mad if someone mistook Eragon for the name of the Dragon in the Inheritance Cycle.
