Why do Atheists tend to know more about the Bible than I do?
Gif: Religious debates!
Gif: Religious debates!
It has a lot to do with the fact that most Atheists seem to take the bible as a historical document and beleive that religion cannot evolve with the times and has stayed the same since the beginning.
Which is false, because if Religion didn't evolve, there would be no religion today, there would be no more Jews, not Muslims or Christians to begin with, and so on.
Whereas if you actually read the bible, many of these laws that are in it are from the old testament, or the Torah, which Jesus basically removed as a law book for his disciples, excluding the commandments, and basically said 'This is a history book".
As for Religion in itself, it is all guesses and such, much of it is simply a hypothesis as to what happened in the world.
If you look at the first 7 days and then look at the big bang theory, it lines up a lot
God said let there be light, and there was - The initial explosion of the big bang
God created the heavens and the earth the debris starting to gather into stars, planets, etc.
God created the oceans and the land and vegetation - water coming to earth and vegetation evolving
God created the sun and the moon and the stars - Honestly, this probably should be day 2
God created the animals - Animals evolving
God created Humans - Humans evolving
God Rested - The rest of time, or at least the time between when humans first came and when God first talked to Humans.
If you look at religion, a lot of things can be explained, especially since a day to the god(s) could be a billion years to us, it could still be the 7th day for God
Imagine thunder and lightning, if you did not know about weather conditions, what would you think? You would think it was the god fighting, or partying, or something of that type.
Imagine trying to comprehend the world, when all you know is a few hudred square miles, as far as you know, it streatches forever, what is in that forever? You don't know, but someone must live there, if you live here, you can't be alone, could you?

That's pascals wager which is a very poor argument. Because it assumes that christianity is the only religion.
I can say the same about islam and either go to islam heaven or to hell as a christian, ect, ect.
I'd rather go to hell anyways than life with such an evil dictator that would send a good person to a place filled with torture and hell for not believing in him.

Well no, that doesn't work, mainly because in most religions, yo get a good afterlife, simply by being a good person.
The only religions that you have to beleive in their god in order to achieve a great afterlife, is Judaism and Christianity.
And christianity is spawned from judaism.
