I'm in love with this girl. She loves me, too. We were together for 26 months. She broke up with me 2 weeks ago. We still talk and we're still friends, but it's in no way the same. We kiss, but it's not meaningful. We don't really embrace much.
She feels "crowded". I fucking hate hearing her say that, as in my mind, that's a spit to my fucking face. I love her so much, it makes me hate her. I wish things where back the way they were. I don't feel like I can be myself. I love her so much though, I don't want to push her away. She means too much. I have faith in her, but things won't be getting back to normal for awhile. Sometimes love is not enough.
OP, and anyone else who bothers reading this. If you believe in love, or even companionship, it will get better. One day. Keep yourself alive and happy so you can be ready for that day.

While I've considered this as well from a scientific perspective, I still bear in mind that the "thunder/raining" metaphor is meant to strike a more sentimental thought process, to those who intake the lyrics in the proper way. HOWEVER I do realize that yes, the writer to the song could have come up with a better analogy to compliment the message as well as make a realistic real-world connection.
2.) It's my fault for not putting quotes around the lyrics of the song.
3.) It's still quite a wonderful song, unrealistic lyrics and all.
