Chinatowns exist because back when we chinese were coming over and working on the more dangerous half of the transcontinental railroad all the lazy European workers would work a day, get their pay, and run off to a saloon and get fucked up, usually not coming back. So the railroad company started hiring a chinese workforce because they were more reliable and ended up being more productive workers. This made all the white people hate the chinese, to the extent that they wouldn't let them live in the same town. And that's how chinatowns came about, since they couldn't stay anywhere else the chinese built their own communities and kept to themselves. What would you do if you were kicked out of everywhere else you tried to stay?

Well its not all bad, they lived pretty happy lives in their little communities. Its not like white people would go to the chinatowns and raid them, killing people indiscriminately and burning down peoples houses right?

my gran's a full blooded jap, and we couldn't tell her apart from a crowd of elderly asians from korea, china, etc. we do look the same, and have similar cultures, but not identical.
