then I found the dark brotherhood and thieves guild, and those were actually decent

no, no, yes, fuck no, I still prefer morrowind, where you had to actually get all the pieces, left boot, right boot, shoulder pauldrons, all of that. was. awesome!

Yeh, i wish they still had that.

I like it storywise, graphicwise and voiceactorwise (well the voice acting, not counting the ones out of the main quests and guilds, apart from the mages guild i guess.)

Skyrim just doesn't seem to have much character to it, yeh, the voice acting is more realistic and better, but all the characters aren't as interesting in skyrim as oblivion.
The graphics sure aren't as advanced as skyrim, (which i will point out, creation engine is just an upgrade of the gameBryo, which isn't that special.)
But at least the world is nice to look at (skyrims "the rift" was the only enviroment i didn't find boring, and the reach, which reminded me of my uncles farmland)
In oblivion, everything in the world interests me.
And i don't need to explain the storytelling to you, which Bethesda completely "half-assed" in most of the main quests. (though dawngaurd i enjoyed,)

dawnguard would have been so much better if the final battle was actually, you know... a battle
7 guys against 7 vampires? not so epic....
you had mountains, forests, swamps, it was great, but it was.... empty, skyrim is too you know, barely any people in the streets, and in the end of the game ,you look at your stats, and you killed more humans then there are named NPC's, it still bothers me
but that's why they have mods, more unnamed NPC's in towns and on the roads, better music
and they tried to fill skyrim up with useless quests, go to random generic, kill that/pick that up, come back, at least every fort/cave didn't look like copies like in oblivion

I guess oblivion is my favourite because it was my first elder scrolls that i took seriously, perviously, i had just, well mucked around in morrowind, and it took a long time for me to actually know how do do things properly, i loved morrowind soo much that i HAD to get oblivion, even though it was 5 years after it's release when i got it. but when our main computer broke down ages ago, i couldn't play oblivion anymore and spent about 2 years playing morrowind on a crappy 8 year old laptop. Which is why Morrowind is still one of my favourite games for a long time period (Oblivion is my favourite for now, the novelty might wear out. but morrowind has always lasted) i bought it on steam just an hour ago so i can never lose it, ever!

I've only gotten far once in morrowind, you just can't go back down to 3 when you played 4 first
the combat was weird too, just stand in one place and spam attacks

yep :P but morrowind kind of motivated imagination with its simple combat system and text diaolgue.

well, they thumbed it down twice, just for better graphics and easier combat
but they removed any sort of costumisation, like in morrowind, the first thing I always did was take the strider to this little town, steal everything, and buy the ebony pauldron from the pawn shop
now you make 1 piece of equipment that covers everything but the ankles, palms and neck, it's just.... dull
and what I never understood, was how everything you take from enemies fits you, they should have sizes in the game, so you had to sell it, or take it to a smith to refit it or something

I agree, I shouldn't be able to become the leader of a faction in what works out to be 2 in game days, the theives guild toke me forever, i loved it, made me feel like I actually had to work for it.

Are you saying Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, or Oblivion is the better one then? Most people say Morrowind, but I'm playing that right now and not quite enjoying it as much as Skyrim or Oblivion.

It's not because of prejudice. I'm enjoying it, but it just hasn't had the same advantages as Skyrim and Oblivion had, and because of those advantages, the game has been able to become more enjoyable (to many people, but not all) than its predecessors.
If they had made Morrowind today, Morrowind would probably be my favorite as well.

The lack of pandering with those "advantages" is what made the game difficult and as a result, fun...

No, I mean the game itself didn't have the advantage of being in a later time period. The creation process of the game.

No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying Morrowind hasn't had the advantage of newer technology, higher budget, etc. Skyrim also had the advantage of feedback from Morrowind and Oblivion, which allowed Bethesda to improve on factors such as AI, the leveling system, etc. for Skyrim.

I disagree. I like the new, simplified and personalized leveling system, especially the perks. Detection in Morrowind is silly, I can stand right in front of someone and they don't notice me. In Skyrim, I can actually use shadows and cover, my armor affects detection, and I can distract my enemies by shooting an arrow. I prefer these in Skyrim.

Maybe, but the effect of shadows and armor is buggy and unclear in Morrowind. As I said, I sometimes have to be right in front of an enemy for them to notice me. Furthermore, sneaking doesn't seem to affect where/when I am detected.

Where are you getting that from? I'm saying the detection of NPCs is buggy, not difficult. If I was trying to say I couldn't stay undetected, that I was bad at the game, or that it was difficult, I wouldn't have said that I can stand right in front of an enemy without being detected by them. Furthermore, the systems used in Skyrim aren't so much dumbed down in my opinion as they are explained and sensible.

How many are there, and where are they? I know the butterfly in a jar at the Alchemist's Shack, but that's it

So far Ive found 2-3 butterflies, (cant remember) a firefly or whatever, and a dragonfly
