We Day claims that for every like they get there sponsors donate 1 dollar to free the children, I spent a few minutes searching and didn't find anyone saying its a scam or anything. But it's hard to tell with these things.

That's the stupidest ******* thing I've ever heard? "Oh no, if we don't get enough people to like our status then we won't be able to donate ANY money to starving African children!" That's like asking for approval for donating money. Why would they not just ******* donate money in the first place? Human stupidity knows no ******* bounds.

Here's a lesson in how ads work, kid.
You are worth a set amount of money to companies, because they can use ads on you. On facebook, when you like a page, they can show you their ads. They also make money just from you visiting the page sometimes. So, they take the revenue they would make from you, and donate some, or all of it.
So for every like, some money goes to some charity.
But then, there are some people like 50 cent, I think, that just donate the money, in your name. Some famous person did a thing, where for every like, they would donate $1 to Africa. So it's giving you a chance to do something without actually doing anything.

no no, you hit the nail on the head. all you left out was that when you like a page, then all your buddies see it and they use that to get to more people who wouldn't usually search for it.
